So I watched E TV with my daughter for most of the afternoon/evening. We saw a few Holly’s world episodes and ‘something’s gotta give’. I haven’t watched that much tv since their last weekend with their father, and it’s never E channel! But we had to stay up and watch the ‘super-new’ or ‘supernew’ Holly’s world, where among all the other drama, one of the friends searches for his birthparents. It’s unusual for a guy to search for his birthparents…at least it was ‘back in the day’ when I went searching for mine. These days, i guess if your not a sperm bank donor baby, most adoptions are open and the information is there for the asking. It was very emotional for him, and I just relived the moment I met my birthmother. I told my kids about the phone call i made to her and what we said. Well, I left out the part where I asked her who’s nose I had. Oh yeah, duh!, that was before video chat! She had to tell me she didn’t know but then went on to talk about the Banks nose…  :O) It describes my son’s nose perfectly! That was more than 10 years before he was born. Needless to say, I don’t have the Banks nose. I met my birthfather a few years later and was able to see how I looked like both of them. It’s a nice feeling to have that blank filled in. And to know my siblings. I have been very blessed on all sides, and thankful that my kids have gotten to know their aunts and uncles from all the directions they are connected. Like the spoke of a wheel

 I love this photo it’s like there’s a ghost in the doorway.

so i have a new job now. i’m the stroke center/chest pain center coordinator for my hospital.  very nebulous title and responsibilities. it’s a non revenue generating job code and today i hung out with my counterpart from the ‘big’ hospital, where i spent my formative years as a fledgling nurse. surreal kind of visit as these ppl are intimately familiar with my personal stuff since my ex works in ep lab. this nurse got multiple pages on 3 stemi alerts, a call from a physician fussing about call roster notification, and we looked at a database an abstracter fills out. i can run variance reports & correct info submitted for various things.

i did this when i worked for the afcaps study. reviewed queries on the database and corrected the variances. but there was a real disconnect for me with the patient care since i did none of it. when i went to work for the cardiology group, i did outpatient care and managed the studies. it was nice but then…you know personal shit happened and i’ve been supporting myself and my kids in various ways as a nurse in the decade that followed.

so i guess i’m just a bit insecure because the walls have all turned to jelly and the floor isn’t too steady either.  i like not having to be on call, but i’m going to starve without the differentials! child support really doesn’t do much to pay the big bills.

is morals or pride or the quest for power? i don’t know, i guess it will unfold the way it’s supposed to.

Dinner was a success and reminded me how much I enjoy spending time with my family.

The highlight of the evening was when the discussion turned to defining what a cougar is and explaining it to my 89 year old grandma.

My cousin, who lives in northern California, informed us of a new description: sleazy new age guy or SNAG.

Just trying to do my part to pass along valuable information.
